Simple Plan - 21.10.08 Festival Hall
Joel Madden, Pete Wentz, Brendon Urie, Darren Cordeux, David Bowie, Johnny Galvatron and Elton John were all at the Simple Plan sound check.
David Desrosiers is actually the drummer for Metro Station.
Brendon Urie is the keytarist for Cobra Starship.
Trace Cyrus is in The Veronicas.
The lead singer for Simple Plan is Pete Wentz, Mikeyway and Joel Madden. Yes, all three.
Nick Carter does backup vocals.
Patrick Cunningham plays the tambourine for that Justine Timberland chick and Sebastien Lefebvre is the new backup dancer for Fergie.
Gerard Way told us all this when we caught up for coffee. That Gerard is such a gossip. Not like his brother, you know, Mikey, from So You Think You Can Dance.
And that is why I love my girls.
On to what actually happened. Sound check party with Pirate Pierre, AC/DC, The Living End, loooiiieee instead of lie, David referring to the others as "those bastards", Chuck giving me one of his drumsticks and invisible-Patrick. Hugs, photos, and getting to meet them. I spoke with Chuck about the rejected album cover a little, and the guys were sad it was the last date of the Australian tour.
Short Stack's lead fell over half-way through their set but kept playing while their tech hovered, trying to make sure he was alright and patting him on the head. He also jumped into the crowd where I was on barrier which was rather awkward.
Simple Plan: ♥_____________♥. So full of energy, joking and performing all over Festival Hall, not just on stage. One of the best gigs I've been to all year. I can't even speak about it because I just revert to grinning my head off and thinking about how silly it all is.
Simple Plan's setlist:
Generation
Take My Hand
Shut Up
Jump
When I'm Gone
Addicited
The End
Me Against The World
Your Love Is A Lie
Time To Say Goodbye
Save You
Improv (Melbourne Song)
Promise
Medley (Low - Flo-rida, I Kissed A Girl - Katy Perry, Summerlove - Justin Timberlake)
Welcome To My Life
Crazy
I'd Do Anything
_______________
Untitled
I'm Just A Kid
Perfect
Except, you know, they didn't actually play Crazy because they are failbots and don't like sticking to their set list.
Perfect was dedicated to Patrick (their friend and webmaster/videographer) as it was his last show with them in a long time, because he's moving on to bigger and better things. And the guys won't be back in the country until they have a new album.
Also, I just want to mention, security were fantastic for this show. They gave us water, pulled people out, put on tiaras, joked around and let us take photos and videos to our hearts' content. Considering Festival Hall is kind of notorious about cameras, Tuesday night, they didn't bother, so here are some of the videos and photos I took:

From soundcheck. Pierre wore the pirate hat I gave him the whole time.

About 30 more here.
