Just sitting in the dark...

Well, I woke up this morning, got to uni an hour early because I misread my timetable. *facepalm* The tute I went to though was fantastic and I understand what I was saying I didn't yesterday.
There was a burst pipe in the West Wing of the 5th floor in the Menzies (a huge building that is 11 stories high), thus all the West Wings of the floors below were closed due to flooding.
Then, at 12 o'clock, Joseph, Tegan and I caught an elevator down from the 8th floor, where Joe decided to press all the buttons and whenever the elevator stopped, he'd hold the "Open Doors" button down for a bit to annoy me. After we got out of the elevator, there was a power outage. Cue us being relieved that we did manage to get out of the elevator in time. Initially, we just thought it was in the Menzies because of the leak and the fact the escalators had been turned off previously, but nope.
We walked to the Campus Centre, and inside it is black, no lights and people are still sitting around eating and trying to buy food in the dark (only at Monash would that happen).
Power outage for the whole campus. So both all my lectures were cancelled, it gets better though, because we had to wait around until the starting time of each lecture to make sure it was actually cancelled and that the power didn't come back on again, in time. I called my mum, who works about five minutes away to see if they have power. It's not just the university, it's the whole suburb (and possibly further, but I don't know).
So, how goes uni life for everyone else? As interesting?
EDIT:
CLAYTON CAMPUS IS CLOSED, TUESDAY APRIL 17th.

Date: 2007-04-16 10:10 am (UTC)We've actually been waiting for something to go wrong with the Menzies. It made it half a semester without anything going wrong which is a great achievement (I've been told, last year for 1 and a half semesters none of the escalators worked and there was a supposed "sewerage" leak somewhere on campus as well as asbestos removal from some portions of the building.)

Date: 2007-04-16 10:15 am (UTC)Walking into the campus centre was just fantastic. We also saw some people stuck in Coco Red because they coouldn't get the door open or something.
My lectures were in C1 and S3 (building 63 and 25 respectively), so my uni buddies and I just wandered for a good two hours doing nothing before deciding to go home.
Oh, I also found Pocky after the lights had gone out. *dances*
