Guess who just tethered her work mobile to her work computer and successfully connected to the work network to download emails and has two thumbs? THIS GIRL! :D

I am easily pleased with myself. Brief work ramble )

Anyone have any ideas on where I could possibly get a cheap school skirt for my Hogwarts uniform? The one I currently use no longer fits. Maybe Big W or Kmart?

Really loving Doctor Who this season (except can they please stop killing Rory?) and the last few episodes of Glee have had some beautiful songs. I've been helping my sister catch up, and she's really struggling the lack of continuity. I just keep telling her each episode exists in its own universe.

Everything is ending but that means summer season television is about to start. True Blood, Leverage, Torchwood (oh god, should this monstrosity even be watched?). I have really questionable taste.

Game of Thrones is great thought! Must read those books some time soon. I wish there were more television series that were based on epic fantasy novels. (As much as it was ridiculous in terms of acting, I loved Legend of the Seeker and would have watched it forever.) Can Game of Thrones please be renewed until it catches up with the novels, since one season is meant to coincide with one novel? Surely that may change later on when they're running out of material.

I have a whole bunch of books to read, a combination of classics and fantasy novels, but I am still stuck in the middle of the Stephanie Plum novels again. Halfway through Eleven on Top still and I want to finish them all again.

Some of the future travel will be on planes which means reading time. Haven't been reading much when on trains and in cars because I've been busy emailing and organising things (or actually driving the car) and trying to keep up to date with things.

Last night I decided I was going to make myself scrambled eggs for breakfast because I was working from home and didn't have to worry about catching a train. Then I woke up to a weird dream where I completely failed at making scrambled eggs. But my subconscious was conquered and my breakfast was really yum!

I also made a Madeira cake today. Cake batter is so good that I hardly ever want to put it in the oven. It tastes great too but I will be good and not eat it all now and share with others.

(My project isn't officially back until next week, so I'm doing self-paced training this week and some project work I can't officially put time against and wasting time cooking. And quite frankly, enjoying the down time while I have it, the next few months until I go away are probably going to be busy.)

I am very appreciative of those who left me a little love in the Holiday Meme. You all are going to make me blush. I bet I think the same about all of you, anons, you're all spectacular and I feel like I've been the centre of a big group hug.

When each of these popped into my inbox, you couldn't wipe the grin off of my face )

When the weather is nice, after I get home from work and shuffle through the mail, I'll do a walk around my suburb. Today I decided to go the opposite way I normally do (because as my mum says "change is as good as a holiday") and in the last 10 minutes before I reached home I was honked at by a random driver. I was looking at my phone at the time, so glanced up to see some dude leering at me as he drove past. People are strange. And really, I was sweating, in shorts and a t-shirt - I looked terrible. WHY ARE YOU HONKING?

Today I spent some time thinking that I wish I'd booked some leave over the holiday period. I decided to work and save my leave for next year (which the Acronym doesn't encourage) so I'm covering people in my old team. I might actually be busy over the next three weeks. I'll definitely be working from varying offices and home but the only thing I'm hoping is that I don't have to do a great deal of reporting.

Other things:
- Oprah has invaded the country and we have nothing else newsworthy.

- Krispy Kreme just came out of voluntary administration here in Australia and are giving away free donuts until the end of the week. Pretty sure half the graduates at work collected some over their lunch breaks.

- Pay day tomorrow. Finally. In between my car, normal bills, flights and present shopping my savings have not received much this pay cycle.

- Charlie was tweeting about ascendant signs and I'm a Sagittarius with an Aries Ascendant. Astrology is interesting.

- It's been a while since I've found a "new" author. Karen Miller was recommended to me on my trip last year and it wasn't until later this year I took the plunge and bought two of her books which was the Kingmaker, Kingbreaker duo. I enjoyed them a lot, but decided instead of heading straight for the sequels, I jumped universes and into the Godspeaker trilogy. I'm two thirds through the second novel and am enjoying it. The second more than the first because while the main character in the first really made something of herself, her stubbornness and manipulation of everyone (and I mean everyone) around her grated. The heroine of the second book is young and she's going to step in it very soon because she's navigating a political arena of a country that has never had a female ruler? I do admire her for refusing to be led to the alter to become a queen consort and instead claiming her birthright of queen regnant and making her husband king consort. I am a sucker for girls kicking ass and proving to the world that they can do anything they damn well want to. Tamora Pierce was my gateway into Fantasy/SciFi so can you blame me? In summary, give Karen Miller a go. Do you have a new author you're reading the entire back catalogue of?

Counting down to the trip and getting more and more excited every day. The whole Andrew McMahon performance is sending my heart a flutter. I really, really want to go, but we'll see how things pan out. I realise I've been like a broken record about this - it's what's keeping me sane right now.

The drama going on at work is still going and I'm doing what I do best: trying to ignore it and pulling my hair out or exhausting myself elsewhere because I'm not actually ignoring it. But, on the good side, I've managed to split my role up between four people for while I'm away! I keep worrying I'll be giving them all too much. Have to try to remember that it's my role which is a role for one person, split between four so it's not overloading anyone.

I got told off by a friend because I said I can still answer texts while I'm away. I've become a workaholic. /o\ WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?

The little brother, who is actually taller than me and not so little, is moving to London next month. I think I've mentioned it before, but what I failed to mention was my parents will be gallivanting around the world for two months next year as well.

I'll be all alone. :(

You guys, I have a really big house that you're all welcome to live in for those two months. We'll just ignore that there's kind of awkward public transport in my suburb and pretend it will be a wonderful party. I get lonely :(
